While working with clay in 3D art, the class was instructed to make a nature-inspired pinch pot. I am often captivated by dots and tiny lines and this could possibly be the inspiration for choosing my approach to this project.
I enjoyed researching and studying the lion’s jaw and teeth as well as analyzing facial expressions. Designing the mane required some improvisation. Getting a glaze on it, mostly for strength required was a challege too. My teacher, Mr. Pembleton, was thoughtful and patient with the time this lion head took to finish. While the class moved on to other projects, he let me keep this on the sidelines so I could work on it when there was time.
There must be some tips or protocol with regard to transporting ceramics with delicate and irregular protrusions… with minimal damage. I need to to do some more research.
